New report gives fascinating insight into salary levels in Thailand

A new report has explored the different salary levels of people working across various industries in Thailand.

The Salary Report 2021 carried out by Thailand’s leading recruitment website JobsDB, ranked the highest and lowest paying jobs by position - officer, supervisor, manager and top levels in each sector.

It is perhaps of little surprise that top level legal directors, business development directors and financial directors are among some of the highest paid professionals in Thailand in 2021.

Thailand’s top full time earners are typically paid anywhere between 112,000 and 165,000  baht per month and will work in sectors such as professional services, E-commerce and banking, new data has revealed.

However, perhaps more interesting are the salaries Thailand’s ‘officer level’ workers can expect to earn each month.

The report found that jobs in the IT industry paid the best for those at officer level, where programmers and IT support staff can expect to take home between 23,225 and 41,122 baht per month.

At supervisor level, those working in E-Commerce received the highest salaries earning between 36,857 and 64,787 baht per month.

At manager level, a job in the insurance industry offered the highest paid salary of between  55,762 and 90,716 baht.

The report also found that salaries of those working in IT had increased across all levels since 2019.

“This signifies the market demand for transformation as a result of Digital Disruption, said Pornladda Dathratwibul, JobsDB Thailand Country Manager.

JobsDB also highlighted 3 essential skills that workers in Thailand should possess, these included IT knowledge, language skills and data analysis. Other important skills needed included communication, critical thinking and creativity.

A house cleaner in Australia would earn more than most of the above executive salaries

wahoo, that's quite low for the highest paid salary. Are these Thai only? surely no farang would accept such low salaries for those jobs position?

Sadly, Thailand will fall down at the hurdle of Language Skill.

English is the predominant Language used throughout  the Business Sector for conducting Business on a Global scale, and that is never going to change.

The English proficiency skills in Thailand have been getting steadily worse every Year, and it is one of the reasons that Thailand finds it very difficult to perform on a Global Basis, against more forward and critical thinking Nations such as Vietnam, who are now starting to overtake Thailand in all kinds of ways, not just in Export values..

It would be more interesting if they could rate these jobs according to their income potential from various cons, scams, rackets, and rip-offs…

What's the point of the official list if lots of income is unofficial?

and now you know why the bar girls say "No" when you want them to be your girlfriend.

and why you can't afford them when they say "Yes".

and why they do it in the first place.

The top level salaries are way higher than in the report. I know people who earn 800K and more a month.

Migrant workers are not generally employed in the jobs in the OP. They come from third world countries and don’t have the education opportunities thethais do.

Down in Phangnga Burmese male laborers get $500 baht per day. And are fairly lazy if you don’t push them. Women less usually. They will get away with what they can if unsupervised.
They work faster if they get job rate eg per meter, than a flat day rate.

The Thai bosses know that if you don’t push them they will slacken off given the chance

I think you can clearly see that it regards, Officer Level, Supervisor Level, Manager Level and Top Level. So, where do you place the migrant worker? Rather stupid comment in my opinion.

They're missing the point that Thailand is the Land of Tax Dodgers as well as Smiles (though not so much these days, sadly). Companies and the self-employed pay just enough to keep the taxman happy, maybe with a small gift added for the sake of harmony, or feng shui, or whatever, and the rest is under the table. How on earth do they think they can afford all those 50 million baht apartments and 10 million baht cars otherwise?

I know them too but not in LOL.

Top executives, whether Thai or (even more so) expats, make way more than the 150-200k that’s being mentioned as the highest salary there. I can only assume they got their data from the job openings posted on their site, where I doubt the C-level type of executive jobs will get advertised as those typically are being recruited through a headhunter, internally or via other connections or recommendations. I have access to salary data and top executives through my job and the best earners make way way more than that.

Vietnam is way behind Thailand. Try your English in Japan and China

As this is jobsDB, I expect they are targeted to their primary customer base, which likely doesn’t include top executives who would be going through more ‘professional’ recruitment routes. The survey will obviously have a weighting bias on local Thai company salary structures. I work in an international company and the ranges they give for most positions are in the ball-park, although we would certainly be at the higher end. Just one of the reasons Thais like working for MNCs. Their analysis stops at Director, which may be when you start moving up into the executive level and salaries of 300k+++.

Not sure Why you Use capital Letters when complaining About thais Language skills.

Do you live in Thailand? How are your thai language skills after living here for years?
Thai doesn’t use capital letters.

Since officers have the highest salaries, then companies use a single track system as in India?

"jobs in the IT industry paid the best for those at officer level"

Most computer related jobs employ a dual track system in US for management and technical people.  When I went to India to train engineers in software development of a large DB they all wanted to become a manager so they could make more money.  Their 2nd level managers and the director didn't understand I was on the same level as director (and made more than the director) even though I was just a "technical" engineer.

What's your point?  Thai language doesn't use spaces between words either, but when writing English spaces are used ...

I have a problem with systems where people at higher levels get paid more than the people beneath then. Sometimes the people in the trenches doing the real work are far more valuable to a company than the people watching them.
