BANGKOK (NNT) - The Securities and Exchange Commission has introduced sandboxed digital infrastructure to support digital transformation of capital markets and the issuance of digital assets by securities companies, all in line with the government’s policy to elevate Thailand’s economy to a truly digital one.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has organized an event promoting the digital transformation of securities and capital markets in Thailand, by introducing a sandboxed digital infrastructure that will help securities’ companies issue 100% digital assets, as well as improving the people’s accessibility to capital markets.

Speaking at this event, the Minister of Finance Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said today the COVID-19 pandemic has painted a clearer picture of technological implementation in daily lives and adaptations of firms to digital markets.

To help promote Thailand’s competitiveness, the Finance Minister said cooperation between the government and the private sector is needed, as well as stricter regulations on transactions and digital currency, including Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Mr Arkhom said Thailand needs to improve the technological skills of the country’s workforce in order to be one of the most competitive countries in the world, while noting that the introduction of this digital infrastructure is a good first steps for Thailand’s capital markets to realize their full potential.

That's the second day running that I've read the word sandbox in a news article.

Did they issue a new dictionary to government officials or something?
