Epoxy garage floor

Featured Replies

Is there any DIY epoxy floor kits available in Thailand?  I have a garage I want to tidy up.   I have used kits in the past in the USA, and they are great and easy to use.  Hope to find something like that here.

I looked on Thaivisa but could not find anything.  Am I missing something?

The TOA Heavy-Guard Epoguard epoxy is good for concrete. They also have Floorguard in limited colors and Sunguard for outside.

I like plastic filler (bondo) for cracks and small holes.

are they expensive ? and then how often do you have to repaint ?

I wonder if tiling wouldn't be a better choice ?

As far as recoating, If apply reasonably well, I think you can get ten years easily if's out of the sun. It will chalk in a few years if in direct sun. We got ten years on factory floors in lower traffic areas.

Tile is great until you drop a hammer.

On decent concrete you can coat 25m^2  twice with two gallons. It is pretty nice to work with. We thinned it a little for the first coat and full flavor for the second. It levels out nice if you work fast. Four in brush is perfect.

We used a good bit on equipment too, but sprayed that.

One gallon kit goes for (I think) about 1,500 to 1,800.

Is the floor bare concrete or has it been painted before?

Going away for a few days so here goes with assumption.

Bare concrete:

Floor should be clean. Then etch with Muriatic Acid. (smells a bit but...)

Using a two part epoxy dilute the first coat 80% thinners, 20% paint. ( the concrete will literally suck up the thinners and the paint will be carried into the surface with it. This provides the perfect keyed base for the second coat)

Apply the second coat with just paint.

I used a roller.
