The recent good news of Phuket’s reopening was warmly welcomed by the Tourism Bureau’s London office reported TravelMole.

From the 1 July the quarantine period will be removed entirely for Phuket and residents of Phuket will be prioritised to receive the vaccine.

"Thailand's priority is to make tourism safe for both tourists and locals alike," said Ms. Chiravadee Khunsub, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand's (TAT) London office.

"The announcement is very positive news as Thailand makes careful and considered steps to reopening tourism to international markets."

From 1 July Phuket will become the first destination in Thailand to welcome fully vaccinated, insured international travellers without the need for quarantine.

It comes after the Centre for Economic Situation Administration (CESA), chaired by the Thai Prime Minister, Prayuth Chan-Ocha, approved the reopening of the country in stages.

From October, five more tourist areas will ease restrictions.

Travellers must arrive by air at Phuket International airport. The Governor of Phuket is aiming for 70% of the island's population to be vaccinated before tourism resumes.

From October, Phuket, Krabi, Phangnga, Koh Samui, Chonburi (Pattaya) and Chiang Mai will all be accessible, quarantine free, for vaccinated travellers.

After arriving, travellers are required to stay for at least seven days in these destinations before being permitted to travel to other provinces.

As well as proof of vaccination visitors in addition must present a negative PCR test result, before beforehand and will be tested on arrival. In place of quarantine and to beable to assist visitors at all times guests will be asked to download the Thailand Plus track and trace app before departure.

Fingers crossed. Roll on October ! Wife wont be out of the bedroom for a week. Have to get a neighbour take daughter to school. ????

Not sure TAT London are actually in the best place to decide

Considering it'll be June 21st before hospitality is allowed to open in the UK, and currently we have no idea whether travel abroad will even be allowed, they have their rose tinted glasses on.
