Tourism Ministry Considers Free Cross-provincial Flights for Foreign Tourists

Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said from July 1, inoculated tourists exempt from quarantine might be tempted to extend their stay in the country after spending 10 days in Phuket if they are offered free or discounted air tickets to other provinces.

I'm a little confused, which is normal at my age... but.

If tourists are "exempt" from quarantine why would they need to spend the first 10 days in Phuket?

Mr Phiphat said this effort is meant to attract 100,000 foreign tourists during the first three months of Phuket’s sandbox initiative as Phuket is scheduled to reopen from July

It was about 8 years ago. I can't find the details so maybe I am a little off on the price but it was way over any other domestic flight in Thailand. But Samui Airport was very nice not that it made any difference.

I would agree with you. We live in Chonburi and went to Samui a couple of years ago, went by train and ferry because the air fare was extortionate.

Bangkok Airways own the airport and take it as a licence to print money.

They won’t even let us into a National Park at a normal price, so they’re gonna give us free flights? ???????????? Not holding my breath for that one

There has been a 40% discount on domestic flights under WTT since last July.

Proposals, offers & suggestions... don't worry, one thing I know for certain in Thailand... nothing is free.

Only a week or so ago my wife went to the local authority and picked up about 70 free rabies shots for our cats & dogs.

Theory on this forum is if you don't see it, it doesn't happen.

Needs to stop saying Foreigners and Foreign invaders or infiltrates....

How about people?

Just Tourists..... Stop being racial and bias..

We know they are international travelers, guests and visitors.

Indigenous people are locals

Stop with the us and them already....

They're sending everyone to Phuket because its an island and most of the indigenous scam artists have fled back to their home provinces to tend to sick buffalo. When the mutations develop they can just blow up the bridge and call in some airstrikes

Meanwhile, the staff at Phuket Sands is ready to serve you.  ????

They don't need to do anything like this.

Just let people fly into Thailand with no quarantine or other <deleted>.

That is literally all they have to do.

Yeah brilliant idea... back to square one.

It'll be like the Samut Sakhon model but nationwide.
