PHUKET: More than 70,000 people in Phuket have received their first COVID-19 vaccine injection since the mass-vaccination campaign began on Apr 1, reports the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO).

So far 73,167 people have received their first vaccination injection, the PPHO said in a report this morning (Apr 9).

Of note, all vaccination injections so far have been of the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine ‘CoronaVac’.

“No walk-ins.” the PPHO said clearly.

I can't speak for the other four centres but the Phuket Orchid is full of walk-ins, to the extent that those with appointments are being turned away.

No side effects from the China jab?

Not really.  The ones with the big side effects are the mRNA ones and AZ.

Sinovac

Phase 1 and 2 trial dataTrusted Source for the CoronaVac vaccine indicate no reports of serious adverse events.

Interestingly, the study authors found fewer reports of fever among participants who received this vaccine, compared with those who had received the Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca, or CanSino vaccines.

Good news, but maybe that is part of the reason for the low effectiveness.

Yeah, not as effective, but since it's a more traditional jab, lesser side effects.

Seems the side effects vary from person to person.  I've got several friends who've gotten the various vaccines so far.  One had a real problem with Pfizer.  The other not at all.

mRNA is a new technology.  It's not fully understood yet, and won't be for years to come.  But...seems to be one of the best so far.  I'm leaning towards the J&J jab.  But will take Pfizer or Moderna also.

This is scary.  We know there are thousands of mutations.  Some could eventually be resistant to our vaccines.  Sucks.

Detection of Mutations Associated with Variants of Concern Via High Throughput Sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 Isolated from NYC Wastewater

Monitoring SARS-CoV-2 genetic diversity is strongly indicated because diversifying selection may lead to the emergence of novel variants resistant to naturally acquired or vaccine-induced immunity. To date, most data on SARS-CoV-2 genetic diversity has come from the sequencing of clinical samples, but such studies may suffer limitations due to costs and throughput. Wastewater-based epidemiology may provide an alternative and complementary approach for monitoring communities for novel variants.

No she was like a little baby when she left the house worried about it but when she got home she said she hardly felt the <deleted>, then no other side effects, nothing.
