New COVID strain in Phuket, infections hit 50

PHUKET: The number of COVID infections in Phuket has hit 50, with officials identifying a strain “from Europe” that spread much faster than the previous strain on the island dominant among the new infections.

The rise came with seven new infections identified throughout Saturday (Apr 10), following 17 more infections confirmed Friday night, reported the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO).

Speaking at the Indoor Sports Stadium in Saphan Hin on Saturday, the last day of covid vaccination injections before the centre shuts down until the end of the month, Vachira Phuket Hospital Director Chalermpong Sakontapol said, “The infections are mostly the new strain ER 17 [sic] from Europe. It spreads quickly, but the symptoms are not as severe [as previous strains].

came from Cambodia, it could also be any one of the 4 variants as well. Get ready for a big 3rd wave Thailand.

I find it rather disgusting for someone to suggest that a British Iranian woman who's brother was murdered when she was 13 knows little of Iran. It was the country she was born into, and ideed spent her formative years. she in fact fled in 1980 when her 24 year old brother was murdered by the new government. and a year after attackers shot her mum, and tried to shoot her dad.

I wonder if this old sign from the now-defunct Roo Bar on Walking Street in Pattaya would be considered anti-Islamic under the U.K. definition. I believe the wording of the sign goes back to a Thai-owned bar in Bangkok in the 1980s, but many farang thought it funny and the sign spread after the Internet took hold. You could see this sign in numerous bars in the 1990s. In its day, this sign was much m ore prevalent than anti-Israeli signs. I've had this photo for years; I don't remember the source.
