  • We are in Isaan, about 40 K from Laos, We have 50 rai, when we built the house we planted a variety of fruit trees which took 5 years before they bore fruit. We have rice and palm on much of the land.

  • I agree with GFingers that you probably are not going to get rich being a farmer.  I planted 6 rai of mangoes..... wasn't that much work to take care but we had a water system which required only flic

Cashew trees

Very labour intensive cashew nut. Got to get the nut off the fruit, dry them in the sun, and then get them out the shells. PITA for 3 Rai.

We just sell the nut in its shell. Still get okay money for little effort.

They drive through our village in the hot season buying them. Don't even have to go anywhere.

Of course, we would get a better price if we did all that work you said and transported them to the buyer ourselves, but its just a bit if fun for us. And it's only a month's work a year.

An hour or so of picking them off the ground. A few small buckets of cashew (in their shell). Easy 500 baht when the guy drives by looking to buy. Do that every few days. We only have a dozen or so treee in the garden.

No idea what price he sells them on for. No idea if it would be worthwhile cracking them all open and taking them to his buyer.

Open a coffee shop instead.

Along with the other dozen or so in the area ,no more than 6 months it will be shut ,too much competition ,and if the location is wrong not even 6 moths.

And then what will you do with the 3 rie .

Haas avacado

Florida blueberries

Limes climate doubtful

At least try some durian for yourself. Yum.
