High demand for COVID-19 screening after 20 infections related to Ayutthaya market

Health officials in Thailand’s central province of Ayutthaya have expanded COVID-19 screening to 800 people at high risk in Muang district, after 20 people, linked to the central farmers’ market, were found to be infected, prompting health officials from the Disease Control Department and Ratchathani Hospital to target screening on traders in the market.

Thai government to procure two million Favipiravir anti-viral tablets

Thailand’s Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) has recently entered into contract negotiations to procure one million tablets of Favipiravir, and anti-viral drug used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients, and is negotiating for the purchase of another million tablets, Disease Control Department Director-General Dr. Opas Karnkavinpong said Sunday.

Buri Ram village locked down after a dead hospital patient found infected with COVID-19

A village in the Prakhon chai district of Thailand’s northeastern province of Buri Ram was declared off-limits today, and the emergency ward of the district hospital was closed for three days, after it was discovered that a patient, who was admitted for treatment and subsequently died, was infected with COVID-19.

Entertainment venue closure extended, snorkeling and diving prohibited

PHUKET: Following yesterday’s (Apr 17) meeting of the Phuket Communicable Disease Committee, it has been confirmed that the closure of entertainment venues has been extended and that diving and snorkeling have been listed as prohibited after a recent spate of 10 cases were detected related to the activities.

Phuket’s pink buses make way for EV

PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation will replace its famous Pho Torng pink song taew, small public buses which have faithfully served the public for decades, with 24 electric buses, starting from Oct 1.

WHO Estimates Thailand’s Losses from Road Accidents in 2019 at Bt500 Billion

30 Chalong Police officers ordered to self-quarantine

PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Pornsak Nuannoo has played down concerns over 30 officers at Chalong Police Station being ordered to self-quarantine after it became known that two people now confirmed as infected with COVID-19 had visited the police station on April 10-11.
