Landlord and witness for marriage extension – same person OK?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm going to do my 1-year extension based on marriage at Ubon immigration next month, but we're having a bit of a problem finding a witness for the home visit. Is it okay if our landlord acts as a witness, or is there perhaps an easy way to arrange a witness?

I am not aware of Ubon immigration wanting a witness. They normally do a home visit instead of having a witness for the first extension application.

If needed and the landlord knows you well enough they could be a witness.

I was at the office a few months ago (the one in the city), and the lady in charge of marriage extensions said we needed one witness for the home visit. Perhaps they could make an exception now that the pandemic is doing its rounds.

As long as I have your attention, do you think it's possible to get a second 2-month extension based on marriage due to covid? I could use some more time to get all the documents in order for the 1-year extension.

Thanks for all your help, Joe.

If the 60 day extension you got was to visit your wife only one can be done per entry to the country.

You could apply for 60 day covid 19 extension if needed.

What documents do you lack? Most that you need normally only takes few hours to get.

I'm going to have to visit Bangkok and then quarantine when I get back, so I will just have a few days to do the extension after that. It's mostly the witness I'm worried about, as we don't know many people around here.

A neighbor could be a witness that you and your wife are living to together. That is mostly what the witness if for.
