BANGKOK (NNT) - A study, by Chulalongkorn University’s Center of Excellence in Clinical Virology, has found that both the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines are helpful in stimulating immunity against COVID-19.

Prof Dr Yong Poovorawan, a senior virologist at Chulalongkorn University, explained that people who get the first AstraZeneca jab had a 98.3% immunity against COVID-19, compared to 99.4% in people who had received the second Sinovac jab and 92.4% in people who had been infected with COVID-19.

He also emphasized that people who have been infected with COVID-19 can get re-infected, adding that we still do not know what level of immunity can prevent infection, but the severity of the disease would be reduced.

Prof Dr Yong said the center is currently studying people’s immunity against COVID-19 in the long term. As COVID-19 has a short incubation period, it may be necessary to administer more doses to ensure people’s immunity is at the highest level.

Those would be countries ruled by superstition and ignorance. There are plenty of studies that show that Coronavac, for one, is very effective against hospitalization and a symptom called death. Right

can we have more data please, How many people tested what age, how may side effects, etc etc.. Only a few words don't say anything. Many studies in other countries shows different results. But as usual Thailand has its own reality and truth

I know for a fact that Sinovac has failed spectacularly in Colombia where covid is rampant. I’d rather go without than take this particular variant of so-called vaccine

Did any of that make any sense...i fear a lot got lost in translation.

You really think if something negative came out about both of these drugs they would tell us ? AZ is being made here and the other one from China is the cheapest one on the markets. But keep spinning

The Chinese should have shared all that data with Thailand, Just like they shared Covid 19 with the world

Those would be countries ruled by superstition and ignorance. There are plenty of studies that show that Coronavac, for one, is very effective against hospitalization and a symptom called death. Right now, in Brazil, a city has had over 98% if its adult population vaccinated with Coronavac and hospitalization and death rates have plummeted. And this in an area where the virus is raging all around it.

Can you cite the source of this alleged fact?

Here is an actual fact for you. Only 12% of Colombians have been vaccinated.

Colombia, where they have vaccinated 4.4% of the population. Hardly counts as a failure. On the other hand you may be better off citing Seychelles as an example......

Actually Sinovac offers the only vaccine, while all the others offer experimental therapies (mRNA or adenovirus).

Like it's cousin vaccine for the flu, the Sinovac Covid vaccine has a roughly 50% efficiency...nothing really new here...millions are being injected every year with a low efficiency flu vaccine, and no one complains.

Those who prefer to try their luck with a non approved experimental therapy are welcome...the world always needs pioneers...

Actually, according to ourworldindata.org it's at 11.98% now. Still not nearly enough to significantly slow the spread of the virus.

A coronavirus vaccine developed by China's Sinovac has been found to be 50.4% effective in Brazilian clinical trials, according to the latest results released by researchers. It shows the vaccine is significantly less effective than previous data suggested - barely over the 50% needed for regulatory approval.13 Jan 2021

Your article is old, here s a recent one

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-04-13/are-china-s-covid-shots-less-effective-experts-size-up-sinovac

From the article:  The efficacy data of about 50% is for very mild disease, requiring no treatment. For infections requiring some medical intervention, it’s about 84% and for moderate-to-severe Covid cases, it’s 100%.

Well l you could always look at the UK figures which are online. AZ is working well to reduce the infection and 49 deaths out of 35,000,000 injections.
