If you go to the supermarket and get the trolly and lean on the trolly (with your arms) for support as it makes it easier to walk (less pain from the stenosis) then using 2 OneWay sticks will help you walk kms.

I use them to walk 8 kms up and around the mountain. Takes a km to push through pain, then ok. 

 

Thanks for the info. I do know of key hole surgery for spinal stenosis, but here in Australia it is unavailable for 'free' from Medicare. I cannot afford a self funded operation. Thanks for the tip on OneWay sticks. I'll check with my GP and if a tick in the box I will buy.. Again - thanks.

Your GP may not know about them.

Not cheap. Can get cheaper walking poles. These are carbon fibre and fold/fit into a backpack. Convenient when travelling.

St.Vincent's hospital in Sydney still may have back surgeons that work public and private. Worth a trip to the public part of the hospital to check. If you are from NSW they have government accommodation near the hospital. You can also arrange free transport.

Unless you walk around to find a hospital, Codein/ apap is the strongest you will get in bkk . Try the pharms around sukhumwit soi 4.

@carlyai. Just an update. My GP put me in contact with a hospital based physio, who was fine, so have ordered a pair of sticks. Here in Queensland key hole surgery for spinal stenosis is currently unavailable from government funded Medicare., plus a two year waiting list to meet with a specialist. Got money - no problem.

I have had similar symptoms for many years.  The NSAID that worked best for me was Diclophenic Potassium/Sodium purchased at my local Thai pharmacy in Hua Hin under the brand name CR-Subsyde

I feel with you, brother! Have this problem every few months or so, up to the point where the pain made me physically sick with fever and feeling sick at the stomach... 

 

Here's my solution, respectively what I do... I make it through the day (the sequence is important) using a Paracetamol or two... Then, before I sleep (make sure it will be a day where you can sleep in or call in sick for next day) I take TWO 100mg capsules of SUBSYDE-CR what is a Thai generic version of the better known Voltaren, but much, much cheaper. 

Next day, I wake up late, relaxed and back to my good old shape. Usually, that holds for several weeks. Had only one time, where I had to do two nights in succession.

Important: DON'T take any Subsyde or Voltaren during daytime. Will not work but make you very sleepy. You need to be completely relaxed (sleeping). All muscles will relax and let any caught up or squeezed in nerves pop back into their place.

I'd go first and get one those all encompassing blood tests from the clinics that are on every corner. The numbers beyond the normal range will be highlighted, it might clue you in to your malady (if not muscular). The next step for me, if some of the numbers were out of whack. would be to discuss with a MD and if necessary some imagery taken.

I can't say re chiro or osteo but for massage, and especially if yo uhave back problems, I reocmmend getting massage at a hospital or health center. The government health stations and hospitals all offer it, private hospitals might too (but of course cost more). Unlike most masseuses working outside of hospitals/health centers , these have all had formal training.

Thats a good result. ???? I wouldn't try to walk as in the videos, (give it a go), just use them to help overcome the pain/resistance in your body. Takes me about 1 km to warm up but can then do about 6 or 7 km up and down the mountain. For me it straightens me up and eases the seemingly huge effort required.

Problem when you finish though, or with me...bent right over.

 

Stenosis is the word for narrowing i think. Many things can cause it. Its easy for a dr to say you have stenosis (like a generic term).  Maybe your medical mob have to change the wording of your condition to one medicare accepts....leave out 'stenosis'. Insert disc prolapse, or other words.

If you get on the 2 year waiting list, there is another procedure that may help while your waiting. Called a Spinal Chord Stimulator.  They are getting good/great results for pain control with this device. Have a read up on it. ????
