More than 8,500 foreigners in Phuket registered to receive state vaccination

PHUKET: In just two days, more than 8,500 foreigners in Phuket have already registered to receive a state-provided COVID-19 vaccination, according to Phuket Tourist Association President Bhummikitti Raktaengam.

(Reuters) - Thailand has detected its first 15 domestically transmitted cases of the highly infectious COVID-19 variant first found in India, the country's coronavirus taskforce said on Friday.

Sweat-sniffer dogs make Thai debut as coronavirus detectors

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand on Friday deployed dogs trained to detect coronavirus infections by sniffing samples of human sweat, as the country deals with a spike in infections, including many without symptoms of the virus.

Twenty-one more cases of the Indian variant of COVID-19 have been found among construction workers staying at a Laksi worker housing facility, raising the Indian variant cases to 36 so far.

One week before Songkran, Thailand's traditional new year in mid-April, health officials in Bangkok detected the presence of the coronavirus B117 first identified in Britain. This highly contagious variant was found in a cluster of patients who had visited entertainment venues in the capital.

BMA and military told prepare facilities to handle surge in COVID-19 infections

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to adopt a three-step plan, including the expansion of city hospital capacity and the setting up of a field hospital modelled after the one in Samut Sakhon, to brace for the anticipated surge in COVID-19 cases in the coming weeks.

Authorities Seals off Camp for Construction Workers in Laksi District

More Repatriation Flights in June for Thai Nationals in India

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai embassy in New Delhi has announced that two more repatriation flights are planned in June, for Thai nationals still in India during the COVID-19 crisis. One flight is scheduled to leave from New Delhi and the other from Chennai.
