I have been trying to renew my daughter's passport for a year. Every time I make a reservation I end up cancelling at the last moment because of a spike in Covid. I have done this 3 times. Since it is her first adult passport we must appear in person. It's a 1 hour flight to Bangkok. It seems ridiculous that during a pandemic they still insist on the in person rule. US passport renewal by mail is a great service, I have used it in the past. Right now Bangkok is a red zone, so I would be traveling from a red zone to a red zone and back again, hardly something the CDC would recommend. Meanwhile the staff have all been vaccinated, why should they worry or care. I don't think I will vote for Blinken's group in the future.
