Change of Address for Drivers License Renewal.

Featured Replies

Ive posted this on the Koh Samui forum already but thought I'd expand it's coverage.........

I need to renew my Thai drivers license after the temp 2 year one has expired.

I went in to Samui Immigration yesterday....apparently I need to change my address to Samui address as my new visa points to a Nonthaburi address.

Fine I thought , Ive done this before at Immigration Offices (TM 28 and 30 forms etc) .

Samui Immigration told me I cannot do it there in person, need to do it online now ("or if that doesn't work call 1178") .

I queried that process with the Immigration Officer...she was adamant,  that was the procedure.

I tried online..no luck.

Tied the immigration hotline (1178) ...u guessed it ...no answer !

Did I miss something...can a Change of Address now be done online ????

No need to do a TM28.

The TM30 can be done online, but first you or your landlord would have to register.

You can of course also do it in person at the immigration office, so if they told you that it isn't possible this was a lie.

I must agree they are lying some are just lazy, it is a free service so no money for them, at my IO it takes 3days. you will need copy of home owners house book and their ID both signed by the owner also their phone number and a rent contract.. you will need a med cert changing to your first 5yr license. 2 photos.

Samui Immigration sometimes have their own rules, as you are already told in the local forum, and you need to follow their rules when staying on Samui. (full stop)

Your landlord need to do a TM30 online in Surat Thani Immigration's online system, if you are your own landlord – i.e. owner of a house (not land) or owner of a condo – you'll need to register as landlord, presuming that you are already registered as house master, and got a blue house book for the property.

Before, and I don't know if you still can do it, you could register your address in person on the ground floor office, left door at back of open area for writing forms, bringing photocopies signed by your landlord of your landlord's blue house book + ID-card, and a photocopy of your rental contract signed by you, plus a TM30 form...????
