They must have a lot of elderly and vulnerable people with co-morbidities living in Phuket.If the reason to have lockdowns is to protect these people then we were waisting out time because they are being left to defend themselves with absolutely no effort to protect them now .Now we are about protecting the money.Thailand ranks 4th in the world for protecting the money during the Covid pandemic.

COVID-19 Vaccination Starts at Bang Sue Grand Station

 

BANGKOK, May 24 (TNA) – COVID-19 vaccination began at the Bang Sue Grand Station for registrants in the transport sector who showed up in the morning for inoculation.

 

A crowd of the vaccine recipients who arrived in the morning included drivers and attendants of passenger buses, taxi drivers and taxi motorcyclists. The Bang Sue Grand Station was turned into a COVID-19 vaccination venue for the workers who are normally in contact with general people.

 

Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc (BEM) sent about 200 of its staffers who work closely to general people to the vaccination venue. They included its workers at electric train stations.

Bangkok’s ‘Smart Taxis’ now advertise vaccinated drivers

 

A private cab service has begun fielding taxis that advertise that their drivers have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

 

Smart Taxi has installed the first of its LED roof displays letting passengers know they are getting a risk-free ride in the capital. The bilingual signs show in green lettering the words “COVID” and “vaccine” in Thai and English with a checkbox.

 

A Smart Taxi rep told Coconuts Bangkok this morning that three cabbies so far have come by headquarters to get the signs installed with more on the way.

Even taxi drivers are more important to vaccinate than the elderly and vulnerable people with co-morbidities, why did we do lockdown if we don't care about the this vulnerable group?

Even though the total number of new COVID cases reported Monday declined from the prior day, Ministry of Public Health officials said Thailand's COVID outbreak is continuing to grow and spread with increasing numbers of cluster outbreaks around the country.

 

The chart below shows the number of active COVID clusters the MoPH has been monitoring around the country during the past 10 days. The brown bars show the number not under control, the green bars show the number considered under control, and the gray bars show the number of areas involved in the clusters.

You don't seem to understand the difference between an infectious disease as opposed to these other conditions.

At a meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, a plan to divide 35 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine was given approval. They are first to be distributed as a first doses between June and September, before second doses are provided from October to December.

 

During the June to September period, vaccination will focus on areas with outbreaks and Dark Red zones, including the provinces of Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi and Pathumthani, as well as destinations popular among tourists such as Phuket.

 

17 provinces along the borders have also been prioritized and will receive vaccinations by July. They are Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Songkla, Sa Kaeo, Tak, Mukdaharn, Narathiwat, Ranong, Nong Khai, Surat Thani, Phang Nga, Krabi, Chantaburi, Chonburi, Rayong, Cha Choeng Sao and Samut Sakhon. After people in these targeted areas are vaccinated, the focus will shift to the nation's other 55 provinces.

I'm guessing the hoped for Moderna vaccines are not included/listed in the above plan because those would be coming via the private sector hospitals as opposed to the government's vaccination program.  Although, the Johnson and Johnson vaccines listed above also have never been mentioned as being part of the government's own vaccination program.
