The Thai government will procure 25 million doses of Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer vaccines this month, while 50 million more doses are to be procured next year for the third dose, said Director-General of the Disease Control Department Dr. Opart Karnkawinpong today (Friday).

 

Johnson & Johnson was approved for emergency use in Thailand by the country’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) in late March, while Pfizer is yet to be approved. 

 

According to Dr. Opart, a total of 100 million doses are to be procured this year with 50 million more next year.

Why don’t they team up with a company and produce it locally? It would be more efficient, and cheaper. Even a government full of halfwits could sort that out. Oh wait……

J&J?

Just read an article today about severe problems with one of their production sites.

Serious question...  If they pull the trigger in June, when can they reasonably expect delivery?  It's not like J&J has millions of doses on the shelf waiting for orders to come in.

Where are you getting those prices from or are you just pulling them out of thin air?

J&J probably doesn't but BioNtech/Pfizer are really cranking them out now.   So I think Pfizer deliveries to Thailand in June is probably feasable if Thailand can get their act together by approving it and making a deal with them.

I saw numbers around 4000b for 2 Moderna shots in stories posted here and elsewhere.  You are saying 4000b for one Moderna and 7500b for one Pfizer.  Once again, where are you getting your numbers from?

But can please someone enlighten me why MODERNA is always excluded ? This would be my first choice given all I read in the European press about the other possibilities.

Lack of availability would be my guess.  Supply of that vaccine in the west is still limited.  They keep talking about ramping up but I don't see it where it counts, in the form of increased deliveries.  BioNtech/Pfizer on the other hand are really starting to crank them out now with more factories coming online and more and more deliveries each month.

 

AstraZeneca/J&J seem to be falling off the map.  They still don't seem to be able to ramp up and nobody in the west want's their vaccine anymore.  So not sure what is going on with them.  You would think that with lack of demand in the west you would see more of those elsewhere but they still don't seem to be able to make very many of them.

procuring and receiving are two totally different things, you buy now and sometime later you will receive, like maybe early 2022

and do they also come with adequate numbers of syringes or is it going to be 1 vial (10 or 2 doses) and one syringe

Anyone kept a total of how many they have said are on order over the past couple of weeks? got to be getting on for 200.000.000 by now

The Pfizer will likely only be for youngsters. The J and J is ok I guess- better than nothing- one shot too (although quite how they swung that I don't know).  One benefit of the JJ is that appears to be pretty good with all variants.

well where I live you can't even get Moderna or JJ you have no option which one to choose if you under 50 you can have Phizer over 50 only AZ and I live in the west

It's about time. When will it be delivered?
