comment confirms it

Can't argue with that.....even if they haven't, as yet, actually met the ladies in question.

I don't agree.  The Chinese will jump on this and use this as a loophole to buy up land and QUICKLY take over.

They don't state HOW much land. And for sure agricultural land will be off limits.

The devil is in the details and they are not put forward. Once the Chinese realise they actually have to build a house on the (small plot of) land and live in it full time, they may not be so interested.

They'll need at least $80,000 in earnings over the last two years and a million bucks in assets plus $100,000 in health insurance.

I stoped reading here.

A million bucks ????. They want us to believe they are funny.

Is it "bucks" bunny?

What I find most frightening is the thought that someone in TAT might actually believe this and that they also think that Prayuth and Co. might also believe this.

Thailand's niche market now is for not for millionaires but low income people with a dubious past who want somewhere they can continue with their dubious life-style without the law being too interested is their activities

Yes. In fact, the wisest wealthy foreigners in Thailand keep the majority of their assets in jurisdictions that provide rule of law and some degree of transparency.

Thailand is an easy country to live in on moderate wealth, so no need to put all one's wealth at risk by bringing it into a Banana Republic (or Rice Republic).

That was my thinking......however.....as some have pointed out this might be an ideal opportunity for the Chinese to swoop in and buy the place

A milllion millionaires/high skilled professionals/wealthy pensioners/workers at billion dollar companies.

What are they dreaming of at night?

Right?

They seem to be laboring under the assumption that millionaires grow on trees in Farangland. ????

TAT is always fun to read. The logic is not too far off, people coming in to live here with money, rent, buy cars, buy clothes, hire drivers, maids, computer geeks.....there is a flow down of money from food and restaurants - Thai food. But before this is approved, I will be an old dude on IV. There is a young workforce, bright and willing to work. They are creative and energetic. You should give them the priority.

The Chinese middle class have the money now. They have plenty of it. They will gladly come into Thailand and pay. This is nothing new. The shift in economy parity has gone to China and Asia. Maybe those posting here are not aware of this or have forgotten.

Re Digital Nomads, their requirement would be average monthly income of $3.000 or roughly 100k THB. Show me some people that can make this income which is in the range of foreign specialist workers here on a regular work permit. Surely you can't make this income with online teaching or translation.

Those with serious money that I know are thinking of getting their money OUT of Thailand, and would not consider some cockamamie half-baked scheme like this.

Apart from Thais, what person with serious money would keep their money in Thailand inn the first place?
