The governor of Surat Thani province issued a letter yesterday regarding visitors to Koh Samui, the famed holiday island in his province.

Wichawut Jinto noted that the pandemic situation on the island had eased significantly and along with many people being vaccinated there already, a change in the rules was in order.

From yesterday onwards, reported Siam Rath,  people who have evidence of a negative PCR test within 72 hours or anyone who has had two doses of vaccine is free to visit without the need to quarantine for 14 days.

Quarantine remains in force for anyone who does not fit into these categories.

The governor's letter also said that officials may test people who have symptoms of fever before allowing them to enter.

He also warned of severe fines and prison sentences for anyone breaking the rules.

Any Bars Restaurants and Hotels open where visitors can relax and enjoy themselves with a glass of beer/wine ????

Allowing anyone in, vaccinated or tested, is crazy unless the the vast majority of the population has been vaccinated or everyone who wants a vaccination has had theirs.........negative test or vaccinated people can still spread the virus.

We had a plan of driving south and holidaying on Koh Samui in august/september, but we will not get the second shot of AstraZeneca before october 8. th, so that plan will be cancelled.

I wonder how it’s actually written in the order. Does it specifically mention domestic travelers only? Otherwise one could fly or sail into Samui directly from abroad bypassing all current strict national entry rules.

I think they are speaking about local people coming from red zones .

I’m sure they do, but is that formulated correctly in the order? What would happen if I sail into Samui and report myself to immigration with my vaccine passport?

They are letting you in (wrongly in my opinion) if you test negative....no requirement to have a jab!!!

Good man, enjoy yourself. I guess I’ll have to wait a while. I’m dosed up but the restaurant I usually go to seems to be closed. Can’t wait.
