Are the vaccines free for Thai citizens?

Featured Replies

My friend lives in Samut Prakan, she told me today that she asked about the vaccine at the hospital and was told it cost 4000 THB.

I thought the vaccine was supposed to be free for Thais.

It's not free for Thais in private hospitals as a walk in (there is however a common grey area where  cost of care at private hospitals can still be billed to the government retroactively... making it 'free' to the patient).

So the vaccination centers are free?

Do you know how a person registers for the vaccination centers?

Chulaphorn Royal Academy and health providers allocated the vaccine will charge 888 B per dose of Sinopharm but this apparently does not include hospital fees etc. so total cost for two shots may well be around 2,500-3,000 B.

In my experience, yes, free.

Depending on where you are located, your best bet is having a Thai person inquire at their local gov't hospital.   There doesn't seem to be a centralised system that is working.   I don't think they have reopened registration through the MorProm app yet or at least I don't see the option on my app.

https://www.ไทยร่วมใจ.com   supposedly is the registration site for Bangkok residents, but I'm personally not even sure if that works or not.

...I'd try the Bangkok site anyway even if you don't live in Bangkok.   Put a hotel address if you have to.   It's just a X00 Baht bus ride into town from most of the country anyway.
