Can anyone please help me , I am having to do a renewal spouse extension in Khon Kaen because of having to stay with a very ill Father in law and so ;

Featured Replies

Its spouse extension renewal time but with a twist!

Wan, (My Thai lady wife) and I have been in Khon Kaen for the last few months taking care of her dad who is very ill and on his last legs. We normally reside in Pattaya and go to Jomtien for Immigration issues.

Last week I notified KK Immigration  that I was living in the family home in  a small village north of KK, helping to take care of Papa  (Form 28 ) and also informed  them that Papa could not fill in the form 30  “House master” informing them of there being an “Alien” me living at his house because he was so very ill .

There were no issues and the KK immigration soon sorted everything out with me leaving with 2 receipts of our notifying them of my address.

The problem!

My spouse extension expires on the 7th of August 2021 and looking at the forms I notice that there are one or two issues that I need to resolve because of making the application in Khon Kean and not Pattaya!

If anyone can help answer these questions it will save me a 120 drive to KK immigration and I would be very grateful, Thanks in anticipation.

Do the application form TM 7 and other forms like the marriage certificate  that have two pages need to be separated on two separate sheets or can they be printed on two sides of one sheet?

Can our Kor ror (marriage certificate) be corroborated at the local Amphur or does it mean I have to go to the Amphur where we were Married (Pattaya)

My bank account where I have my 400K for the spouse extension is with the Bangkok bank in Pattaya, will the local BKK branch in our village issue the letter and the bank statements needed for the application?

My wife would normally show her ID and blue book but we cannot do this for obvious reason  will this affect our application?

I am sure there will be more issues or questions but in the meantime any info would be very appreciated……..Thank you

You need to print the TM7 form 2sided.

Copies cannot be done 2 sided. They will want a separate copies.

You need to get a printout to your Kor Ror 2 marriage registry to confirm you are still married. It can be done at any Amphoe. You wife can do it an will only need her ID card to request the printout.

Any branch can do the letter from the bank amd issue the bank statements. If they say no ask to talk to the manager.

Copies of her ID card and house book are needed for the extension application. It does not matter if it matches the address shown on your TM7 application form.

You should not need proof of address for your application since a TM30 form was submitted.

Doing well this morning  getting the two applications together nicely

but have another issue , size of photos in the application and  whether they can be black and white  specifically the photos showing me with my wife at the front gate with the address included,  in the lounge, bedroom, kitchen etc.

These photos will be of the house in Pattaya  because I am using the  blue book from there  in my application, its the only one we have and also it uses the same address that is on my wifes ID card.

I will also be including in the application Papas ID and blue book just in case

You will need photos of where you are staying in Khon Kaen or at the least the one with house number.

The address shown on your wife's house book and ID card does not matter. Those are only required to prove she is Thai.

You will be using the address in Khon Kaen on the TM7 forms.

Your wife's father's house book and ID card will be proof of your address in Khon Kaen.

Being first time at that location, there is a good chance of a home visit. I had that black/blue ink problem in Korat.

Over the years and With the help of  experienced Posters on here,  the invaluable vast knowledge of uboljoe I have managed to "scrape through" the spouse extension application process" with few problems, however  the stress of it all with getting older  does get to me now and again and its with great appreciation of this Forum that I feel that apart from the "negativity" so apparent on many of the sub  forums, this forum, is not just one of the most essential but  one of the most helpful on the website and totally under appreciated!

Being a "Victim" of "Exchange rates, corrupt governments and shady politicians,"   like so many  more of us "Oldies"  in Thailand,  like me who voted so many years ago  with their feet, and  took up the challenge of "marrying" into a totally different culture , well shall we say it all hasn't all  been a bed of Roses has it!

Now maturing into an "oldie" hasn't helped either  and  beset with health issues, ageing family members who cannot be ignored or  refused help plus   having to run the gauntlet of filling in forms in the right order and in the right color every year et al &  infinitum  is  becoming  a daunting task.

And so by saying a big thank you for all the help I get from Joe and posters on here and  in the spirit of trying to help those who may like  be on  the road of senility if there is anyone in the North Of Khon Kaen area  who needs a bit of help with completing their "extension application" I have a good printer and limited PC skills so just send me a message  and if its practical I can possibly help !

I  think this is my 3rd or 4th  application and I had "home visits" every time in Pattaya

Helpful !!! You having a laugh?

Tell the wife of a farang, who is just out of a 1 month coma, that they will have him deported for being on  1 month overstay, you think that is being helpful?

Now jump on your soap box tell me i am wrong, but before you do that, remember i am that farang,

Don't listen to the doom and gloom merchants.

You will have no problems with KK Immigration if you are polite and respectful.

They are very helpful.

I have never had a problem with them.

I have a health issue which is a bit of a drag in that I have difficulty walking and stairs!!!! God help me!

However I needed to go to KK Immigration  2 weeks ago to tell them I was living north of KK and also do my FILs job of informing them that there was a Foreigner living in his house (Me)

Anyway I got to the top of those stair and was gasping and obviously in  a little distress.

A young lady from behind the counter cam over to talk to me but our conversation was a little limited because I could only speak a little Thai and she could only speak a little English.

The young lady told me to sit down and reappeared with a young man who understood what I needed, within ten minutes I was attended to and on my way down those blinkin stairs!

My only complaint at KK immigration was those stairs!!

Yes they need to be signed. You wife has to sign the ones that are in her name.

We both sign the marriage certificate and Kor Ror 2 copies.

Good morning

Well I went to  KK Immi with my application for spouse extension and there was no problem at all the young lady officer was helpful, polite and friendly.

Apart from the high set of stairs to the Immi offices  that is a very deadly hurdle for  anyone like me who has a heart problem !

However I now have another issue that could be very serious .

The KK Immigration officers are visiting  Papas house this afternoon and it seems that we will have a problem finding  two  neighbors who are  able and willing to sign that they have known us and that we are genuinely married and have been visiting Papa and the late Mama for the last 15 years or so,

It seems that there is a reluctance on the part of people to sign anything because they are frightened of being scammed . It doesn't help that Wan has been away from her Dads house for nigh on 23 years and so has lost contact with friends who may well have signed the immigration documents!

So what can we do?

I asked Wan if I could  approach the Abbot of the Temple across the road  from our house, Wan  says this is not possible!  ( I have known Po Boom personally  since 2007 having been a Monk for a day at the his temple when Mama passed away)

Any info or advice would be very much appreciated, Thank you

My neighbors here in Nonthaburi had the same problem...they put the word out and paid 1500 baht each to two other neighbors (who did not know them personally but saw them around the MooBaan) to accompany them to immigration. They do the same every year.

I am not sure they will have to sign anything. Some officers don't bother with it.

It does not matter how long they have known you. Mostly they want somebody to attest that you are staying at the house.

I see no problem with the monk being one of your witnesses.

I can't say for all, but about 4 months ago north of Korat the witnesses had to show their ID and sign.

As already pointed out, put the word out that you're willing to pay someone for it. Also, make sure you know what they need to show/do (like showing the immigration officers their ID and tabian baan).

Thank you for all the help.

The officers came an hour early and asked for the two  "witnesses" who were on their way,   everything  beurocratic was required,  The witnesses Tabien Ban, ID cards  plus photocopies, signed witness statements Etc.   Including photographs of the witnesses   with the applicants inside and outside of the house and showing the gate with the address .

I mention these details as   information for those who maybe considering or  going to do a "spouse Extension" in Khon Kaen province.
