Thailand to ease COVID-19 curbs on some construction projects

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand plans to allow some construction projects to resume in its capital and surrounding provinces although most sites and workers' camps will remain closed as the Southeast Asian country deals with its biggest coronavirus outbreak to date.

Chulabhorn Royal Academy Secretary-General, Professor Dr. Nithi Mahanonda, has proposed a reprioritisation of Thailand’s strategies to cope with the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is rapidly spreading “far and wide” to the point that “we do not know who are infected among the people around us.”

Siriraj Hospital closes ER as Rajavithi Hospital suspends general surgery and new admissions

Yesterday (Sunday), Bangkok’s Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital announced the temporary closure of its Emergency Room, until further notice, due to the number of patients exceeding capacity.

Cambodia closes land border gates with Thailand and Vietnam to control COVID-19 surge

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced new measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its new Delta variant including temporarily closing border gates to Thailand and Vietnam. In an address on July 1, Hun Sen ordered authorities to strengthen the monitoring of all arrivals into the Kingdom via land, waterways and air.

MANILA (Reuters) -A Philippines Air Force troop plane crashed and broke up in flames on a southern island on Sunday, killing at least 45 people after some jumped free, officials said, in the country's worst military air disaster in nearly 30 years.

COVID negative test for land arrivals clarified

PHUKET: In a correction to what was reported erroneously yesterday (July 3), anyone entering Phuket via land must be able to produce either proof of vaccination or evidence of a negative COVID-19 test taken seven days previously.

Thai Airways resumes int’l flights to Phuket

As school closures stretch on in Pattaya due to Covid-19, some parents begin to complain about tuition fees not being waived or discounted

Pattaya, Chonburi – At least one school deputy director in Pattaya said they will officially discuss the decreasing of school tuition fees if the closure of schools in the province of Chonburi continues to be extended with no end in sight due to concerns of Covid-19. This follows reports of increasing parental complaints, including to The Pattaya News, about schools not budging on reducing tuition fees or giving discounts despite schools not being in session in person.

Lion to be returned to its Chinese owner, says PM

Prime Minister Hun Sen said Sunday night that he allowed returning of a male lion to a Chinese man who had raised it a week after authorities had removed it. On June 27, authorities confiscated a nearly fully grown male lion from a Boeng Keng Kang home in Phnom Penh after online reports about it wandering freely in Zhai Xinjiang’s backyard.

Nationwide, a total of 4.53 million Cambodians and expatriates vaccinated against Covid-19
