Report- Phuket Extension of Stay - Retirement

Recommended Posts

Went this am to Phuket Immigration for the annual extension of stay based on retirement.
Very quiet, maybe five applicants.

The outside IO reviewed my docs and I thought all was good until he produced two new docs.

Stupid me, they were in Thai and all I did was sign where the IO said. No clue what they were for.

Then the outside IO said where was my ATM card and I asked why - he said so we know where you're spending your money.

What??? True story, I lost my card the day before and the IO looked at me with that "look".

He said, well it's up to the inside IO and "maybe he likes you, young man". I suddenly felt better because I knew he was going to like me.

Minutes later I was inside Rm 103 in front of the same IO I've seen many times before.

I said absolutely nothing. He looked at my docs and put them in some sort or order.

And then ..... out came the stamps and he was doing his thing. All good.

I then went and sat down in front of the cashiers to do my fingerprints and pic.

Receipt provided and I'm out the door in 18 minutes.

Another year in TH.
Happy man.

Thanks for the effort but really a report needs to outline what docs were required.

Had to read it twice to even work out what method you were using. Income or money in the bank. Seems with vague reference to ATM its income method.

Was it using income letter from embassy or bank statements.

etc etc.

Sorry, you're right, inadequate detail.
I submitted the required docs as per the Phuket Volunteers website.

Required papers:

Completely filled in TM 7 form.

Copies from following passport pages:

Detail page

Current visa/extension

All extensions from last Non-O visa or transfer stamp to new passport. (If

applicable)

Last entry stamp

TM6 departure card

Passport size picture.

No mention of the two new docs which were in Thai language.

I've always used the 65k THB monthly income route. Fortunately as a Canadian, the TH Embassy still provides a letter confirming my income. I always ask the Embassy to state it is a minimum of 65k THB. Don't really want the IO's to see other income deposits to my account.

Hope this helps.

"do my fingerprints"

I never had this done for the past seven retirement extensions (non O-A).

Understood about your previous extensions.
I never was asked for fingerprints before.

Simple process - rest 4 fingers on a small screen and completed in 30 sec.

I was also at Phuket Immigration yesterday to get my retirement extension and was also asked to sign two forms. One was acknowledging that if I overstayed something bad would happen, and the other had to do with keeping my 800,000 THB in the bank for the requisite amount of time. There was an English section of each of the forms (maybe on the back) but I didn't bother reading more than the header. If you don't sign you don't get your extension. I had the same quick experience.

Regarding the ATM comment, the affable guy who is always outside likes to joke around. My guess is that he was attempting to be funny.

I’m surprised at the paucity of dox required; Phuket Town’s ‘little funny man’ has always required:

Google map Immigration/Residence

Hand drawn ditto

Copy of bank book pages

Rental agreement

Owners house book

Owners ID card

Photo outside residence

That was up to and including February - maybe he’s changed…

All my 10 years retirement extension in Phuket Town, I was not once required to furnish the following:

Google map Immigration/Residence

Hand drawn ditto

Rental agreement

Owners house book

Owners ID

Is there another Phuket Town in Thailand?
