Covid-19 test

Featured Replies

I have been offered a free covid-19 test today, at the local clinic, If I am not feeling sick is there any point in going where a lot of people might be sick ??

would you go ?

If you were in an area or near somebody that is infected then get the test otherwise I would not.

Personally I would not get a test if not feeling ill - not because of concern about going to the testing site but because in Thailand you will face mandatory institutionalized quarantine (at your expense) if positive. Depending on where you live and the bed situation, this might be in a hospital, a designated quarantine hotel or a field hospital.

If you have reason to suspect you might be infected (i.e. were in close contact with someone with COVID), I'd just self-isolate for 10-14 days at home.

if you develop symptoms then of course a different matter.

I've had a phlegmmy throat, soreness in my throat, sore muscles, itchy eyes and general malaise for a week or two. What about me? (no joke, I'm being sincere). Would my SS cover me? I'd rather eat glass than be separated from my boy, one of the reasons covid scares me so much (aside from the horror of becoming one of the unlucky seriously ill).

I went to get a test for a trip and the room was packed with people coughing and sneezing, talking with nasal stuffy voices.  I asked the lady at the door if they had many positive results and she said "yes, a lot".  I left, never went on the trip.

SS will cover cost of hospitalization, yes.

If concerned, seek COVID test at your nominated SS hospital. But be prepared to be separated from your family if you test positive.
