I would welcome any recommendations on charities to donate to, to help with the distribution of food. Of course I want to make sure that it is bona fide and the money will go to problem and not someone's pocket. My preference to help in my local area i..e. Jomtien (Pattaya). My preference would be to give to non Christian charities but will reconsider that if really needed. 

A group I'm involved with made a donation to these guys, we were very impressed with them, I'm sure there are others.

Not sure about Pattaya area but all the large Supermarkets in Bangkok have an area outside of the checkouts for food donations. It's an easy and convenient place to help out. I just buy two of most staples and deposit the extra one into the bins.

I'm sure you'll get the standard "Father Ray" suggestions but my wife and I wanted to give to the lesser known/more needier places.

Not wanting to toot my horn but 2 mates of mine and i put together 30,000 baht and commissioned the LK hotel group street chef kitchen in Pattaya to arrange for food packages that were distributed to many hundreds of people...

As this is related to the Jomtien/Pattaya area, moving to the Pattaya forum. 

Thanks everyone. All helpful suggestions. I have opted for the ’Pattaya Food Bank Program’, as Mark suggested. I have not heard of this before but have already been in contact. Such sad sad times.
