CarlBkk
Hi all, I’d like to import a high value used piece of hifi equipment into Thailand. I know this is likely to cost me 30% of the value + shipping cost, but my question is…..how stringently to Customs look up values? the equipment is not a common brand, but worth £5000 second hand. There’s no way I can pay another 30% on top, so if I declare it for £1000 what are my chances of getting that through? Anyone been and done this? DaLa
If you've ever dealt immigration here and felt frustrated / abused . Wait until you have to deal with a 'poor; ( in more ways than 1) customs officer. My suggestion is to use an agent because they will (so a friend told me ) oil the wheels for you. If they catch wind that you have falsely declared the value they can fine you multiple times its value, and that value will be decided by customs. One suggestion I have for you is ....possibly the equipment is 'used' ie. not new and therefore you have a receipt for the value you quote. A very convincing sort of professional looking receipt??? PS , This is getting binned after a few days. Edited August 4, 2021 by DaLa PS
CarlBkk
Hi Dala, I'm with you! Yes, the equipment is truthfully used being sold by a private person. Got what you mean about a professional receipt :-) Thanks.
