As we get older our eyes do the same, get older. Some folk have no problems at night, but most do.

The front screen has UV block, I would just have it above your line of site on the screen.

I made a mistake with tint on my truck, looked nice but at night, trying to spot bikes with no lights was a problem, had to open the window a tad just to be sure.

Window tint is not "dangerous", it depends on the darkness of the tint that the individual chooses.

Window tint in Thailand is not illegal, regardless of the percentage tint.

Wonder why they drive like tortoises at night then, no tint  in front for me at  all and the lowest available for the sides 20%

Tinted windows on my Vios were given free without my consent.  I was away in UK at delivery time, so wife agreed.  I have hated it from the start, but do not see any way of removing tints.  I would never haver tinted windows again.

My tints do not appear to help keeping the car cool in the sun.

If you have tinted windows, then you could be stuck with them for ever.  probably you could have them tinted after buying if you simply cannot bear the sun..

NB.  I never wer sunglasses either.  I want to see.

Find the corner of the film, at the top. Peel back. Once you have a piece peeled off, a shot of glass cleaner between the film and the glass will help.

Pull slowly and gently.

Viola - gone.

Is a messy job and better left to those who do it regularly . Not cost much to have a pro do it . From someone who has done it and wish I never started it .

It may not be an issue now but was not good if your rear window had defroster coils like my 1985 Subaru - they came off with the film.

Heat gun would loosen the film without removing the defroster

It was removed by professionals in PI.  ????

Also had to install a catalectic converter when got it back to US from PI (no unleaded gas in the 80's and a new gas tank (they must have shipped without fuel as inside all rust).

She asked for the minimum tint that let's through 60% of light. Unfortunately, despite paying for this car, I can't drive it at night time. I demonstrated to my wife that already at dusk, the 100m visibility goes down to 70 m. At night, you will not see the stars or lights beyond 50 m. I can't see the side mirrors through the tint at night time. It's a hazard and should be banned.

I had the same issue when buying a car - they wanted me to have a tint so dark I wouldn't be able to see through it

Coming from the UK I don't generally need a tint of any kind really and simply turn the AC on if I want the car cool so I insisted on the minimum - this guy really did not want to sell me the car without the maximum tint but I insisted as I could hardly see through it in the day and there's nothing wrong with my eyes - no wonder they're killing each other on the roads every day.

I'm still not entirely sure he didn't ramp it up a notch on the order before delivering - still I've had this car for some time now (10 years or so) and it's ok but could do with being a shade lighter.

I often drive in the evening as well, a lot more than during the daytime.

I briefly worked for Spectrum Tint-A-Car in Australia in the early 90's - but not for long. The sales pitch included that NASA puts the same film on their Space Shuttles, that it filters out the harmful UV rays and prevents skin cancer, keeps the car cooler and a host of other things. I can easily debunk most of them. Glass naturally filters out 90+ per cent of UVA and UVB rays depending on thickness and other factors. Tint does not reduce the car heating up. It might marginally slow it down but it does not keep the car cooler. Yes it can help with glare but all you have to do is put on sunglasses. At night time, you can then remove the sunnies.

Being an Australian, and loving to drive, I can tell you that the sun's rays are extremely hot in Australia. Thailand is equally as hot and humid. I never needed window tint in Australia. I bought a new car last week and the salesperson talked my wife into applying tint.

Finally, I'm sick of hearing the advantage of "privacy". On a public road, you have no privacy. The goal is for everyone to be safe. This means that you can see everything unhindered and people can see you that you can see them.

I had a similar experience . I was in the UK and wife bought a new car in Thailand with 60% tint . When I came back to Thailand the first time I drove the car was at night and I thought that the lights were faulty so I took the car back to the dealer and complained about the lights but they were not faulty , it was the xxxxxxx stupid tint . A car sales lady had persuaded my wife to have the darker tint as it made the car cooler , WTFK . I had it removed  cos it was  asking for an accident because of much reduced vision. The UK law say 75% light through the windscreen and 70% light on the front side windows . However most new cars already have a 30% tinted glass windscreen and adding a tint would make your UK insurance void and that has happened a few times in the UK . Is there a correlation with tinted windows and the high amount of road accidents in Thailand ?

Without any tint, the AC will struggle to keep you cool on hot days, but for me anything more than 20% on the front screen is a problem at night.  40% or more on the sides is good.

I guess you have very little experience of driving to make such a daft comment.

You need to see forwards very clearly in case of unlit bikes, carts etc, then you'll be able to pass them safely.  Once they are at your side, you already know they are there, so a darker tint does not matter as your peripheral vision has tracked them.

Or do you look out the side windows at every bike you pass??

And if maneuvering in a tight space, I have 360' cameras and can also open the side windows if needed.

You need to get off the keyboard and get out more.
