BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed the initial outcomes of a meeting with Guangdong province in China. Trade, AI technology, smart City status, medical technology, logistics and agriculture are the targets to be co-developed.

Minister of Industry, Suriya Juangroongruangkit as co-chair of “The First Thailand – Guangdong High-Level Cooperation Conference” disclosed that during the meeting, Mr Ma Xingrui the Governor of Guangdong, suggested enhanced cooperation between China’s Greater Bay Area and Thailand’s Eastern Economic corridor in the hope of regenerating the economies of both countries following Covid-19.

Mr Suriya added that the Thai side also proposed sectors that the two countries should co-develop, including new-generation industries, trade and investment, agriculture, culture-tourism and healthcare, clean energy and science.

After this there will be sub meetings between the two countries in order to follow up on the progress of each sector’s connectivity and development; meanwhile The Second Thailand – Guangdong High-Level Cooperation Conference will be hosted by Thailand in the next two years.

The Trojan Horse comes to mind…

And the thin end of the wedge gets inserted a little further up Thailand's buttocks.

Another reason for this:

Vice President Kamala D. Harris today launched the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Southeast Asia Regional Office in Hanoi, Vietnam, at a ceremony that included the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, U.S. CDC Director, and Deputy Prime Ministers and Health Ministers from eleven countries. The new Regional Office strengthens CDC’s ability to meet its mission of protecting Americans and people of the region by responding more rapidly to health threats wherever they occur and building key relationships to tackle shared health priorities.  https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/p0825-new-cdc-office.html

Does this mean the office in Thailand will be closed and the staff let go?

Although I guess this ignores the Chinese families that, as individuals, seem to own most of Thailand ?

Their Chinese forefathers didn’t start rich. Worked their way from humble beginning.
