Heres a long shot.

Moving Thailand on to the UK red list seems strange as the case numbers and fatalities are improving in the country, so a reason given by the Uk government for its decision is

‘the lower levels of published genomic surveillance in Thailand’

Well all nations including Thailand and the UK send these surveillence results to gisaid.org which I presume counts as publishing the figures.

Clearly some government scientists in the UK are not happy with government scientists in Thailand.

This isn’t about deaths, infections, or real people being sick its a bureacratic tiff.

But its an easy fix, scientists in Thailand have just to send more surveillence results to gisaid.org

That could all be agreed in one government to government or scientist to scientist phone call before 4.00 am Monday 30th August

Chances of that happening?

If they don't have the capability to increase the level of genomic surveillance then this is a non-starter.
