Thailand reports 14,802 new COVID-19 cases and 18,996 recoveries

Thailand on Wednesday (September 1) reported 14,802 new COVID-19 cases, 18,996 recoveries and 252 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

 

● 18,996 recoveries

● 14,585 new infections 

● 217 prison / prison infections

 

Wednesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,219,531 with 11,841 deaths.

 

(Total infections since April 1: 1,190,668)

 

The news comes as Chulalongkorn University researchers have launched the second phase of human trials of the Chula-Cov19 mRNA vaccine, after the Phase 1 trial greatly boosted volunteers’ antibodies against the COVID-19 virus.

 

Chula-Cov19 mRNA development program Director Dr. Kiat Ruxrungtham said the vaccine proved effective against all four variants of the virus in Phase 1 and is expected to be registered by the Thai Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) in April next year. The vaccine can induce a very strong antibody response.

 

He said, after being injected with the mRNA vaccine, Phase 1 volunteers developed 94% protection against COVID-19 symptoms, with high antibody activation.

Haven't been following as much recently. What's the consensus on the decrease in cases?  A true reason for optimism, solely because of fewer tests, or a little bit of both?

UPDATE: 14,802 confirmed cases. 1,880 probable cases. 7-day testing average is 47,485. Out of 166,922 patients, 24,161 in hospital, 75,659 in hospitel and 64,079 in home/community isolation. 4,917 in a serious condition (-86) with 1,040 on ventilators (-2)

Chonburi Public Health Office is reporting 879 new cases today and 2 more deaths. Most new cases are in Chonburi City (183), Bang Lamung/Pattaya (136), and Si Racha (269). There are 15,557 patients in care #COVID19 #โควิดวันนี้ #Thailand

Tough one to call, there has been a real decline in testing but to balance that there is also a real decline in ICU and those on ventilators, if one is to believe the official figures. In my view it does seem less intense, those dying at home have decreased in previous days.

That's considered a heretical thought and doesn't conform to the orthodox hysteria you are required to display. National Office of Statistics median age of death from/with covid in the UK is 82.  But sshhhh - don't tell anybody.

This was something we knew from the data - despite officially prioritizing the elderly Thailand instead focused it’s limited vaccine effort initially on economically important sectors, like Phuket, not the elderly, who are most vulnerable and more likely to need ICUs.

Lockdowns and reduced testing I expect. I am having a change of heart, this Delta virus cannot be beaten, we all need to catch it and are ultimately destined to do so..... we just need to have been vaccinated first.

Malaysia has 50% roughly of its adult population vaccinated and there is no sign of a reduction in cases (20k almost every day).

Hard to see that Thailand would be any different

I have a sneaking suspicion that someone high up, didn't like to see the baht plummeting in the way it was when the numbers kept increasing. These recent days its doing the opposite and rising quickly, due to the new numbers. I'm very much a doubting thomas with these recent figures. Looks too much by design, and Prayut did say, things would start to improve in 2 weeks time. That was about 4 weeks ago, I think. Spot on timing by him 555

With the numbers they are showing as tested via PCR and the positives for the day that is a 31% positivity rate still.  If you decided to test the population en-mass, as should be done instead of trying to artificially lower those numbers so you can open, you might find a whole hell of a lot of actual cases. Funny thing is that the ones testing positive are showing up at the hospitals looking for treatment while the ones with minor symptoms testing positive via the ATK tests are staying home or better yet still wandering around infecting others.....

 

Unfortunately we will start to see more masks around chinsetc...as people believe the governments numbers and that Thailand will soon be covid free on the large scale.  The deaths however are a definite metric and many more have been found at home in the past few days.

 

As I always say Stay safe, protect your family and until the all clear is sounded world wide do the right thing to care for yourself and others.

New information I have been seeing is that the Above 60 and elderly crowd were left in the dust for the vaccines and a very large percentage were and are still being unvaccinated.  This is a whole country problem and not just the dark red provinces they are so ingrained to blame.

The more transmissible a disease, the higher the vaccine rate needs to be to get herd immunity.   With the original strain of Covid it was estimated that it would start to happen with 70% fully vaccinated.  With Delta I read (but don't have a link) that it could be as high as 90% vaccination rate.  

Children are the wild card in the entire equation and whether they will be heavily infected and spreaders.

If it is such an earth shattering Statistic then post the actual graphic from your link instead of expecting us to not only open the link but then download the graphics into a file on our computers.  You should know better than that....

 

You still want to state that it is only the elderly and infirm who are dying and getting sick.  I think you need to look again and then look at those with long Covid and still being disabled.  It is not just about deaths as a single metric, but you folks who want to insist this is a hoax being perpetuated on the world will grasp at what ever little straws you can instead of looking at the Whole picture.
