im confused because of two conflicting ideas; people confirmed it's alright to use tubes on tubeless tires, but now your'e saying it isn't.

Oh dear! I'll put this as simply as I can. It's ok to put a tube in a tubeless tyre providing that it's fitted to a solid rim designed to accommodate a tubeless tyre.

It is NOT ok to put a tubeless type tyre plus a tube on a spoked rim which is not designed for a tubeless tyre. This can lead to a rapid and dangerous deflation.

Can you ride on the yellow bit. ????????????

I've found tubeless tyres are easier to fix punctures on compared to ones with a tube.
On tubeless ones, you can use one of the DIY puncture repair kits and repair it yourself in 5 minutes without having to remove the wheel and tyre.
Tyres with a tube fitted require wheel and tyre removal.
