Accident Young Mother Killed as Truck Swerves Across Lane
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A crash occurred on the morning of 11 August, on Highway 204, near Wat Tan Lon in Pruyai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, when a trailer truck driver lost control and crashed head-on into a pickup truck, killing a young mother instantly. At approximately 06:40, police and rescue volunteers from Hook 31 Nakhon Ratchasima responded to the scene at kilometre marker 5+300 on the city bypass road heading into Nakhon Ratchasima. The trailer truck, registered in Samut Prakan province, had veered across lanes and collided forcefully with a Toyota pickup registered in Chonburi. The impact caused the pickup to be crushed under the trailer and pushed off the road. Inside the wreckage of the severely damaged pickup, rescuers discovered the dead body of a woman around 30 years old, trapped and badly compressed in the detached part of the cab. It required hydraulic rescue tools to extricate her body, which were then taken to Maharaj Hospital in Nakhon Ratchasima. Among the wreckage, an ultrasound film was found, raising fears that the woman pregnant, but it was later discovered she had recently given birth. The truck driver, Mr. Sudtee aged 58, sustained injuries and was unable to provide a statement. Initial investigations suggest he may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the truck to lose control and cross into the opposite lane, directly colliding with the pickup. The rear of the trailer extended into the road, blocking half the carriageway and causing traffic congestion over three kilometres. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation as police gather further evidence. -

Agree............ in the sticks people imagine it's all idyllic and serene........but you are rarely more than 1/2 km away from a Thai with a microphone and PA system.....and that ignores the Temples 4am prayers, and 5:30 village head music and announcements. -
