OVERSEAS JABS A TICKET TO FREEDOM IN NSW

AUSTRALIANS who have received one of three different vaccines while overseas can take part in small group picnics and other freedoms on offer in NSW during lockdown if they get a local GP to verify their immunisation. People who have received two doses of either the Astra-Zeneca , Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in another country can now take proof of their jab to a GP and have the information uploaded to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). But a Department of Health spokesman said while Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine had provisional approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), it was “not currently included in Australia’s Covid-19 vaccination program” and therefore could not be recorded on the AIR “at this time” . “If a person has received one of these TGA-approved vaccines overseas, except for the Janssen vaccine, this can be reported to the AIR,” he said. “The person needs to provide documents in English that show what immunisations they’ve had, and they need to take these to a recognised vaccination provider in Australia ,” the spokesman said. The federal government was “considering mechanisms for recognising vaccines not in use in Australia” , he said. Once their Covid-19 vaccination is reported to the AIR, a person can generate a digital certificate using their Medicare online account through myGov and their Medicare mobile app. This certificate can be used when proof of vaccination is required.
