‘Indian hackers’ behind cyber attack on Thai hospital, linked to previous attack on Krungthai Bank

Thai police have said a gang of ‘Indian’ hackers are responsible for a cyber attack on a hospital in northern Thailand which saw patient records leaked online.

Police from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) said that the hack of Phetchabun hospital resulted in around 46,000 patient records being leaked, and not 16 million as claimed by the hackers. However, subsequent reports have claimed that 10,000 patient records were compromised.

Police did say that they believe the data, which was leaked on Raidforums.com with a ransom demand, is genuine.

Police said the hackers were able to obtain the data through ‘clickbait’.

However, perhaps a more accurate description would be that hackers used a technique known as ‘phishing’, tricking an unsuspecting employee at the hospital to click on a malicious link likely sent to them via email.

Police also said the gang may also be responsible for similar cyber attacks at another hospital in the Northeast, as well as an attack on Krungthai Bank.

Meanwhile, police are investigating another cyber attack, after a report was made by the director of the Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Hospital in Bangkok.

Police said someone speaking English made a ransom demand to the hospital via telephone on Monday.

So question is, are they located in Nana or Pattaya?
