Schools and Covid : what is the official policy ?

Featured Replies

The CCSA has extended Covid policies to the end of september.

But what about... schools ?

"Use of school buildings is permissible contingent upon the approval of provincial education authority and provincial communicable disease committe and in accordance with rules and regulations stipulated by the Ministry of Education..."

What does it mean ?

On the field, the situation is totally different. All the schools and universities in Thailand (public, private and International) are "online" only.

A few boarding schools have received a special authorization to reopen according to a programm "school sandbox"...

One example : Ruby School Thailand

For the thai schools... online mode started in mid may (start of the new year) ! 4 months already... !

And there is no difference between dark red, red and orange provinces.

It seems that Koh Samui is the only exception... with international schools that operate normally.

Meanwhile... everybody said that thai schools would reopen again 1 november (start of semester 2). And what 1 november when the country is supposed to reopen on october 1 ?

We do not have any goalpost, and the problem is factorized by... local authorities. How they will authorize any school to reopen ? According to what criterias ? Why the CCSA says that school could reopen... when it's obvious that they can't ?

It's surprising that this very important question does not attract more scrutiny.

Let's remember that : "There are over 37,000 Educational Institutions and nearly 20 million students in the Thai education system."

It's not a small issue !
