I still prefer my idea ; not a single baht in a Thai account. As for the insurance, I have the best insurance in the world. Covers everything worldwide at € 168,- per month at 79 years of age. I am sure you can't beat that.

Yes the whole point is to be insured if you can, that said, from my calculations the above is about 80,000 baht per year which if correct appears to be extremely cheap for a 79 year old, then again depends on how much the insurer covers you for at the end of the day and if they are a reputable company.

*  Therefore, for me, Medivac consideration does not enter my thinking - especially as Thailand is my home.  Also, I have heard stories of Medivac not actually turning out to be the neat solution it was assumed  -  perhaps due to reasons like (a) being medically unable to be transported; (b) Policy limitations/exclusions on exactly what is covered; (c) Ineligibility to the "receiving" country's universal healthcare system for folks judged to no longer being Residents

Permanant disability whatever, nuts to stay in Thailand if from UK  can get extra 360 quid a month  tax fee and not means tested

Medivc last resort  commercial flight better  no waiting

Um.....I did read what you posted and replied, however you haven't confirmed if it is 80,000 baht per annum that you are paying and the value of the policy you are covered for, and if it's a reputable insurer, again, I will say, if all of the above is correct, then that is cheap insurance at 70 year of age.

Did I miss something ?

So, you think that a government hospital is very much cheaper for an insured foreigner? Please tell me your secret. How did you manage to include yourself in the 30 baht scheme? ????????

I goto the government hospital every 2 months.

50bht to see the doctor (inc hospital services), 180bht for 2 months of pills.

Sometimes they do a PSA test for an extra 250bht.

I don't have any insurance, I'm OK with death when my time comes.

You miss a lot, I didn't mention 80,000 baht but € 168,- per month. The policy includes dentist, hearing aid once in 5 years, specs and so on. Furthermore all the surgeries one need, meds, fysio therapy. I've been insured with them for 38 years so you can bet it's a reputable insurer. My age is 79, not 70 so once again you missed a lot.

By your previous post I took it that you were paying with Euros and did the conversion which came to 80k baht. Now this appears to have been turned into a picking  match on typo's, well whatever, Physio, true what they say when some of use get old, I'm done, good luck to you.

he problem for many here I think is more that they wait too long for a private insurance. When they have first problems, you can't make an insurance for that problem anymore. You have to start with insurance while you are in a healthy state!

Insurance companies have the right to not reinsure a customer at any given year regardless of the customer's health status.

That is not universal.
