I would say the climate, the freedom (lawlessness) cheap alcohol, meals and accommodation, plus the abundance of affordable prostitutes makes it popular. I was merely pointing out that there is a higher cost to mongers than just the 1000 baht for the hour. They have to include flights, accommodation etc etc. Yes, and it was still worth it, and if I only wanted an hour I'd have stayed home.

Chad3000
Will be boring. Anyone looking for excitement after 9pm can take a stroll down to Beach Rd and get in a fight with some ladyboys high on meth as they knock you over the head with a brick. Ah, the good old days... where did they go...

If they didn't come back to Pattaya pre covid, why would they come back to Pattaya post covid?

I don't know where they went- perhaps the Phillippines. To answer the above quote, Pattaya just wasn't fun anymore before corona, and I think the mongers didn't think it worth the cost of flights just to sit in a grotty bar beer with bored girls more interested in their phones than them. If they didn't even come to Pattaya, they obviously wouldn't be in the restaurants etc.

It's possible that Pattaya, mainly through greedy Thai landlords with high rents, has pushed the market prices past what the majority of people are prepared to pay, or can afford. As I have said in the past, when Pattaya / Thailand was cheap and nasty, tourists could look past the nasty because it was cheap. Now, it's not so cheap, but the nasty still remains, it no longer represents a value for money holiday. So what does Thailand do, pump up the numbers with zero baht Chinese tourists. Who knows were Pattaya / Thailand tourism will be 5 after covid, but I don't think it will look pretty. 2
