The new chief of the Bangkok metropolitan police was unveiled yesterday.

It's a step up from deputy for Pol Maj-Gen Samran Nuanma.

Pol Lt-Gen Phakkapong Pongpettra said the capital was in good hands at the flag raising ceremony at met HQ.

The new incumbent said he had strategies to deal with protesters.

He becomes the 51st chief.

But in their headline Daily News referred to Big Oud - the nickname of the immigration chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang.

They said he had bid farewell to his seat.

Recently named as an assistant chief of the RTP there has been speculation about Sompong's future role at the Immigration Bureau.

It would make sense if the strategies included negotiations rather

than outright bullying and violent reaction.

Nice statue of Joe Ferrari in the third image here:  Daily News

You need "to correct another error", there is no such statue.

The most important question wasn't addressed though, how much did the new position cost the new chief?
