It is very odd how the people adamant on forced vaccines are afraid of people not vaccinated for covid.  They don't even have trust in the vaccine they took.

Think you will find that for UK citizens the destinations mentioned do not threaten to hospitalise tourists.

For the vast majority of people, the risks far outweigh the rewards.

Add in the Thai government's ability to make knee jerk decisions and you have a recipe for disaster.

Far more welcoming destinations than Thailand.

Well, there are confirmed reports for the Phuket litter box of children testing positive upon arrival (but parents not positive) being torn away from their parents and put into hospital while the parents are for forced into quarantine in a different location.

 

The families mentioned included Swiss and Burmese. "Barbaric" was the accurate description of this approach, and this risk is one I absolutely will not take. We escaped Thailand in early July just before the dung hit the fan and no way we return when our child could be ripped away from us (it would take some serious violence to take my child away).

 

Thailand still a 3rd world, barbaric country in many respects.

Every person that enters Thailand should be covered by full minmial insurance that allows 100% coverage at hospitEL for up to moderate symptoms, all tests and evaluations.

 

Barring that - just follow the US model.

 

We farang do not want to be thrust into a hospital with triple tier pricing (retirees most expensive). It's nothing short of prison and damn well the government should realize this despite the authorization nature.

For me, it's quite clear about the PCRs.

If you test positive before you come, you don't get on the plane!

BUT testing positive when you arrive is just not fair, because you won't be allowed back on a plane and you (or your insurance) will have to pay for 14 or more days in a hospital here, and if you're only coming for 7-10 days your proper screwed. Think about annual leave allowances and return flights etc. Also, this would be bad enough for people travelling alone, but most will travel with family, friends, or love partners.

In conclusion, the 'post-arrival test' is the main killer for the tourist industry, followed closely by the curfew, lack of booze in restaurants, and lack of nightlife.

Surely if only vaccinated and twice tested tourists are allowed into Thailand then the locals have next to zero risk from them. The risk in Thailand is Thais infecting Thais until they all are vaccinated.

As I see it Thailand has 2 problems - vaccine rollout and early choice of vaccine 

 

some 32% of the Thai population has been fully vaccinated so they are not quite there yet

 

the early choice of vaccine (sinovac) which likely at least 20% of the 32% have been vaccinated with are now entering a stage were the vaccine is far less protective so will require re-vaccination

 

Other countries in the west rolled out "effective" vaccines much earlier and faster  than Thailand, they are now at a point were the number of infections is less important and are now focused on people getting sick with covid 19 caused by the SARS CoV 2 Virus

 

The actual disease that the virus causes is Covid 19 can cause symptoms that you notice or not and of course you can get quite ill if it is allowed to replicate in big nimbers, that is determined through a test that can again look for the virus in certain quantities "Viral Load" or the antibodies 

Viral Load will determine whether you are infectious with live virus 

 

Vaccines help the body neutralise the virus very quickly in most people "stop it dead" and prevent you from developing the disease known as Covid 19 and stop the Viral Load increasing to a point were you are infectious 

To know if you have already had the virus and your body defeated it without you knowing or without developing a serious illness "The Disease Covid 19" an antibody test can be performed

 

This is how I look upon the whole situation - lets scale it  1-10 with 1-3 being Green and 4-6 being Amber and 7-10 being Red  (and of course other factors like age and general health have an impact and create a group called "at risk")

 

Green  (Fully Vaccinated with effective vaccines)

1 - The virus entered your body and it was quickly removed, you never got infectious or ill which was helped with a vaccine. would test positive for antibodies

2 - The virus entered your body and it replicated slightly you never got infectious or ill which was helped with a vaccine. would test positive for antibodies

3 - The virus entered your body and it replicated in larger numbers you became mildly infectious had mild symptoms again helped with the vaccine. would test positive for antibodies and test positive for the virus if done while you had symtoms and would be classed as having Covid 19 at that time.

 

Amber    (Unvaccinated or poor vaccine administered several months ago)

4 - The virus entered your body and it replicated in larger numbers you became  infectious had noticible symptoms again helped with the vaccine. would test positive for antibodies and test positive for the virus if done while you had symtoms and would be classed as having Covid 19 at that time. But not ill enough for medical treatment

 

5 - The virus entered your body and caused the disease Covid 19 with symptoms, you could be in an at risk group and vaccinated or unvaccinated and got ill enough to require medical assistance

 

6 - The virus entered your body and caused the disease Covid 19 with elevated symptoms you could be in an at risk group and vaccinated or unvaccinated and got ill enough to require medical assistance

 

Red

7 -  The virus entered your body and caused the disease Covid 19 with serious symptoms you could be in an at risk group and vaccinated or more likely unvaccinated and got ill enough to be admitted to hospital

 

8 - Seriously ill with Covid 19 and likely unvaccinated

 

9 - Very seriously ill with Covid 19 and on a ventilator unvaccinated

 

10 - Got extremely ill and died likely unvaccinated 

 

 

So were is Thailand on the above - IMO they are mostly in Amber/Red - a problem of their own making due to vaccine procurement failure and poor choice of vaccine.

edit : meanwhile in thailand with only 30% vaccinated we have days again that the death toll on the road is higher than the number of people that die -with- covid. Again look at the UK with 3x more cases than Thailand. The vax works but only for 4/6 moths.

Stop scaremongering, the virus is on it's way out, if you want to learn from the past then look at the spanish flu that took 2,5 years to go on it's own, this one is much much less problematic and will go on it's own as well. With or without the jab. And again, the current situation in mexico is better than in Thailand, so where am i wrong exactly ? Arguments please.

But that pubs, bars and nightclubs would only be allowed to reopen.

 

It wasn't stated that the blanket alcohol ban would be lifted for all establishments.
