The chief of Thailand's oldest national park has warned motorists not to stop to take pictures on one of it's most picturesque roads.

Daily News called Thanarach Road that runs through the Khao Yai park to the Huay Sawat waterfall a romantic but deadly route.

Park chief Adisak Phusitwongsanuyut said that the road was opened about 40 years ago but recently there had been motorcycle fatalities caused by people stopping to take pictures of the view.

He called for people not to stop on the road but pull off at safe viewing and scenic spots designated by park signage.

The national park authorities could build a small layby in order for tourists to take photos without getting smashed by other vehicles if there is sufficient space that gives a good viewing platform. After all they are charging entry  to the national park, so some expenditure on park safety upgrades might increase future tourist volumes when these beauty spots are uploaded to social media for the general populous to view and admire.

Perhaps 2 lay-bys, one being 10x the size of the other based on entrance the fee ratios. (400 baht foreigner price/ 40 baht Thai price)

the amount of times you come around a bend and find some idiot has stopped in the driving lane to take pics etc has been a problem for years here, too many lack any common road sense what so ever and do not consider any  other road users at all
