Politician Jatuporn Prompan (C) and fellow “Red Shirt” leaders arrive at Criminal Court in Bangkok on August 14, 2019 before the final ruling on alleged offences committed by “Red Shirt” leaders and key figures in 2009. Lillian SUWANRUMPHA / AFP

After 97 days behind bars, former chairman of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) Jatuporn Prompan was released from Bangkok remand prison this evening (Thursday) after the Appeals Court granted him bail.

Speaking to reporters and supporters in front of the prison, who had been expecting his release, the former red-shirt leader thanked the Appeals Court for showing him mercy and his supporters, mostly UDD members who, he said, had kept vigil in front of the prison since Wednesday.

Jatuporn and two other UDD members were held in custody at Bangkok remand prison after they were indicted by the public prosecutors for allegedly leading red-shirt protesters to lay siege to the residence of the late Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda in 2014.

Whatta charlatan.

Always has been.

97 days for Jutaporn is nothing when he knows he should have spent a couple of years locked up!

Just another grub!

Looks like 904 haircut - those donned by military and police officers.

It's not the first time.

He also wore yellow shirt on several public occasions and is a royalist.

His spring campaign against prayuth transpires now as done in collusion with prawit-thamanat fraction and nothing to do

with a genuine opposition pushing for monarchy reform

And uncle thaksin guarantees bail of course????

  • Popular Post

When will he be sentenced to jail for all the trouble he created in 2010?

Some years ago he was considered to be a terrorist.

He should be in jail for the rest of his life - together with the other red-<deleted> leaders and their master.

And of course you have the links to prove that, don't you?

Otherwise you expect us to believe your opinion?

no, he was always a tool.

Now a royalist tool, as I have explained.

Even picture is self-explanatory.

Many hard core reds turned cobras - whether for dropping their charges, including corruption, or just plain 100mln in the swiss bank.

Thamanat flower money go very far and deep

And he keeps being referred to as a "red-shirt" or deeply involved in opposition movements.

Nothing could be further from the truth.
