webfact Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Picture: Thai Rath Former head of Thai immigration and poster boy of the Royal Thai Police Lt-Gen Surachate Hakpan headed to the far south yesterday on a crime suppression mission. The man universally recognised by the moniker of "Big Joke" was meeting all the heads of police stations in Regions 8 and 9. His brief is to suppress crime, assess crime and report on measures being implemented by RTP chief Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk. The Lt-Gen explained modestly that he was working under the leadership of generals Roy Ingkhaphairoj and Suchart Theerasawat. Big Joke was the head of the IB until his abrupt removal more than two years ago raised eyebrows. He shuffled paper at the PM's office for a couple of years then was reinstated to an advisory role that has morphed into a more concrete job in crime suppression and reporting. Many think BJ's star is on the rise again though critics call him an attention grabber. Like him or loathe him he looks like he's well and truly back in the public eye - aided and abetted by the Thai media who love to follow the charismatic cop's every move, notes ASEAN NOW. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-10-20 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates Get your business in front of millions of customers who read ASEAN NOW with an interest in Thailand every month - email [email protected] for more information 1

MrJ2U Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 His charisma isn't going to pacify any Muslims. Like most people nobody has any trust in these government officials. Theres a bloody COVID 19 wave going on right now down there. Tell him to bring some pfeizer vaccines. That would be more helpful.
The Hammer2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Ouch! Q) What is worse than being moved to an 'inactive position?'.. A) being moved to an 'active position' Blimey! They'll give him Northern Ireland next! Serves him right. In 30 years here I had never heard Thais so actively express their hate for a cop as him..
brianthainess Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 ???? "ATTENSION !! all criminals down south just to let you all know, i'm on my way ! "
Stocky Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 Isn't he a southern Thai anyway, not deep south but from Trang or Surat Thani. So it's like going home really.
