DAVAO CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office (SDO) in Panabo City, Davao del Norte on Wednesday condemned the recent behavior of one of its personnel for shouting and threatening to stab a delivery rider with scissors.

This, after a video went viral on Monday showing a motorcycle rider delivering a parcel to the DepEd personnel’s wife who found out it was not the item they had ordered from the online seller.

The wife, with her teacher-husband by her side, then demanded to get back their payment from the rider, saying it was not the item they ordered.

The rider explained to the couple that he could not give a refund and told them to contact the seller instead.

The DepEd personnel, with a scissor in hand, harassed the rider and warned him that he could not leave unless he refunded them.

The rider was forced to give cash to the couple despite his efforts to inform them about the protocol on refunds.

“The Division assures the public that it will be taking the necessary legal action to immediately address the incident,” the SDO-Panabo City said in a statement.

The statement added it was reserving judgment on the incident and will respect its personnel's right to due process.

The incident is now under investigation by the legal unit of the SDO-Panabo City. (PNA)
