If they are so poor, how could they afford a truck?

The way most Thais afford anything: DEBT.

  • Nothing to do with Thailand. High oil prices are worldwide and oil could go to 100$ in short time.

The margins enjoyed by those whose goods they are transporting should easily be enough to up their basic pay. As usual ordinary, hard working Thais are shafted by the elites.

  • This so called 'truck power' strike will be a failure.  Truck drivers are among the lowest paid people.  They cannot afford to go seven days without income.

They do t seem to be keeping to the 30 baht cap where I live. Bio is 30.5 at the moment.

It could be worse ????, driving past the petrol station a couple of hours ago, in Scotland, Diesel £1.519 Ltr ~  69 baht / Ltr.... £1.46 a few days ago....

Great news. I have a 300km journey planned for Monday 1st. Be good to have many trucks off the highways- most of whom stick rigidly to the outside lanes of dual carriageways!
