Thailand’s main international airport will operate at just 30 percent capacity on Monday, the first day of its reopening to foreign tourists.

According to the Airports of Thailand, 30,000 passengers are due to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Nov 1.

The passengers will arrive on 440 commercial flights consisting of 230 domestic flights, 110 international and 100 cargo flights,

AoT president Nitinai Sirismatthakarn said Monday will see the airport operating at about 30 percent capacity, adding that 7,000 of the 30,000 arrivals will be from international flights, TNN reported.

Mr Nitinai added that special measures, such as the addition of more self check-in machines and baggage drop off points, have been installed at the airport in order to accommodate passengers as part of the ‘new normal’.

Meanwhile, Police General Damrongsak Kittipraphat said that 3,700 police have been drafted in to take care of the airports included in the reopening plans.

The Pol.Gen Damrongsak said that he expects an average of about 4,000 foreign tourists to arrive in Thailand per day.

Pol.Gen Damrongsak added that the Thailand Pass will mean that tourists should not have to wait long in queues as was sometimes the case in the past.

So are the remaining 23k of the 30k flying in the cargo hold?

  • Looks like Thailand fully opened from 1st, the floodgates are straining.   I think the police will outnumber the travelers.

  • 110 international flights with 7000 travellers. Is it including the crew or just tourists?   110/7000= 63.6 passengers per flight.   Wowwww

This site seems to be building quite a lot of information on the 'Thailand Pass' and associated matters, including a running Q and A.

Maybe worth a look for folks who are interested.

"...7,000 of the 30,000 arrivals will be from international flights..."

So Thailand has been averaging about 475 per day for the two Sandbox's over last 4 months, nice 1473% predicted increase

Where are the International Passengers coming from; are Eskimo's allowed out yet ?

  • Popular Post

Who believe this numbers ? TAT ??
Really who want to come to Thailand with all the restrictions ??

As Airlines and Swampy will already know the facts about how many international passengers will arrive on 1 November, their credibility will really be shot if its not the 7000 as announced....

And how many are Thais?
Maybe they will outnumber the Tourists.
There must have been many waiting for the 14 day quarantine to end.

Perhaps worth mentioning:

PCR test before departure - for most situations the negative report must be no older than 72 hrs.

But if your flight transfers at Changi airport, the Singapore authorities have fixed that time gap at 48 hrs, rather than 72.

Nowhere I have read that wearing a facemask is a must in THailand, not on any travel advice nor the requirements for tourists coming to Thailand. In many countries people don't need to wear a mask anymore.. I am curious what will happen

I had same inclination to do the math.  That ain't great numbers.  and reality will most likely be much less.

I am sure there will be rush first couple weeks of those been waiting to get back home or visit family.  But those type travelers won't drive the numbers needed to head off the great depression.

3700 policemen for 4000 tourists, almost a policeman for a tourist to say ''' welcome tourist, where do you have the money?'''

Wonder how many of the passengers that arrive onboard the "100 cargo flights"...????

7,000 international passengers arrives on 110 international flights, which are in average 64 passengers per flight...:whistling:

Then they thought again, changing the news to only '7,000', i.e. cutting earlier announcements by more than three quarters. - They had to explain, however, previous lofty numbers, so they 'shifted' the balance to 'domestic arrivals'...
