The EU will continue providing Covid-19 vaccines to Vietnam either via commercial contracts or Covax, according to the European Commission (EC).

During a Monday meeting with EC President Ursula von der Leyen on the sidelines of 2021 U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow of Scotland, Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his gratitude towards the European Union and its member states for their timely support to help Vietnam fight Covid-19 via vaccine and medical equipment aid.

He highlighted the fact Union Civil Protection Mechanism, an EC initiative to constitute a framework for cooperation in disaster preparedness, prevention and response, had facilitated the transportation of vaccines from the bloc’s member states to Vietnam.
