I hope they have the entertainment system working, I flew with them in May 2021 BKK to London, no entertainment at all, I asked a steward why and was told they had not paid/renewed their inflight entertainment licences. When I went to book a flight back to BKK, the Flight Centre (one of the world's largest and most successful independent travel retailers with over 1,300 stores around the globe) said they no longer sold tickets for Thai air because the airline would not give refunds to ticket holders. At this point I chose to fly with an airline that I knew would not be a problem

November 9, 2021 must be the celebrated Thai Airways bashing day. Overpriced tickets, no respect for customers, worst flight ever, underhanded political graft, incompetent business acumen ... I don't think any more constructive criticism can be added. Never flown with them but I will give them a try after the AseanNow forum stamp of approval.

I always flew Singapore Airlines even going back 15+ years ago, I must have taken 40 trips back and forth and always found Singapore to be the best,  even Malaysian airlines was quite good.  Thai airways food went to c_rap as did their service.

My concern with Thai Airways or any other airline that is in financial trouble is they cheat on maintenance and other critical matters like flight deck updated training and assessment. After they have a disaster they will blame everything other than their penny pinching.

I tried them (Malaysian) but the transit in KL seemed to get  worse and worse.... Thai at least went non-stop to my destination. They were really courting the Indian market though making boarding and check-in rather chaotic. Thai's Business class prices were a deterrent so it was in the back for me... they were not too bad on board.....

I think this statement was made so that the government can justify financing the airline (again) in the future. Last week I read that THAI asked the government for 25 billion baht but that they were rebuffed. Apparently they are seeking an equal amount from banks. Would love to see how many planes they actually sold or returned to lessors.

Not used them since 2007 when after buying a one way to bkk they emailed me and said I would have to buy an ongoing flight, despite having a non O visa. they would not answer phone or email so had to go down to their office in London, 200 miles trip. Nobody there but phone ringing which they were ignoring. They did not know why I was sent the email and had to ring up staff at Heathrow, yes one way flight was OK. They claimed the rules had changed since they sent me the email, not even an apology.

We always flew Thai Air in the past but it looks like not any longer.

 

Brisbane to Bkk used to be a direct flight several time a week and around 8.5 hours travel time non-stop.

 

Now they want to fly us from Brisbane, south to Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide before actually starting the flight to Bkk AND we have to pay extra for the privelege.

The "extra" is almost double the airfare from Sydney to Bkk.

 

Singapore Airlines for us next trip I think. Direct and reasonable cost.

They have a 1.5 hour stopover in Changi BUT airfare is more the norm at around AUD$850.

I have flown Thai airways on occasion however it has been awhile.  I can’t remember having any problems other than their fares are kind of high.  One thing I do remember is how hot their flight attendants are.  They really must screen prospective female attendants for their beauty.  I still remember one young woman to this day who was so strikingly beautiful you could see the passengers eyes following her as she walked up and down the aisle.  I remember long ago when US carriers hired beautiful young women as flight attendants.

As a flight attendant still flying in the USA but live here in Thailand …i can tell you that discrimination laws have change that beauty concept from long ago. Unmarried childless was the norm.  I can agree flying staff travel on Thai…..  Beautiful and gracious.

They simply are not value for money.

 

In our case flying from Brisbane they kept swapping their planes from old to new and back again without notice. And their service was very ordinary.

 

Before China poisoned the world and you could fly from Alcatraz Oz we were flying different airlines like Malaysian and EVA so we could stopover on the way home and experience different countries.

Eva business class is a Rolls Royce to Thais bc a Russian Lada.

 

And we won’t be flying anytime soon either if they want us to perform like circus seals just to enter Thailand.
