Fully vaccinated travelers from four Asaen countries including Vietnam will have their stay-home periods cut by three days to a week upon entering Singapore from this Friday.

According to VN Express, the pandemic situation in the Southeast Asia region is "fast stabilizing" and Singapore has adjusted the risk classification for more ASEAN countries, said Health Minister Ong Ye Kung on Monday

Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam will be moved from "Category 3", deemed at higher risk of Covid-19 infection, to "Category 2", with similar Covid-19 risk profiles to Singapore.

Passengers from these countries would have to isolate for seven days at declared places of accommodation instead of the former 10 days and present a negative PCR test result on the seventh day.

The stay-home notice requires travelers to remain in their place of residence or dedicated facility for the stipulated period.

Around 12,000 Vietnamese citizens live and work in Singapore.

Singapore has recorded over 220,000 infections and 511 deaths so far.

Vietnam has recorded more than 970,000 cases, with most linked to the highly transmissible Delta variant.

More than 29.3 million people in Vietnam have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
