A South Korean man in the northern province of Bac Ninh, was detained Wednesday after losing company funds at a casino.

VN Express reported that Yang Young Jin, 46, is being investigated by Bac Ninh police for "abuse of trust to appropriate property."

Yang said he has lived in Vietnam since 2001 and has a family here.

He works for a South Korean firm based in Bac Ninh and was entrusted with $55,000 for management by the company director, also a South Korean.

Went for a flutter

From July 25 to 28, Yang lost all the money, gambling at a local casino.

When the money ran out, he hid in a relative’s home in Ho Chi Minh City’s Phu Nhuan District.

Police found Yang on Nov. 9th.

Authorities said he admitted to his crime and has now requested police to buy him a plane ticket to Hanoi.
