This year’s celebrations of the annual Loy Krathong festival, on Friday November 19th, will embrace the “new normal” lifestyle, as all visitors to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s approved venues must show proof of two COVID vaccination jabs or COVID-19 negative test results for a test done within 72 hours prior to entering the venue.

    Starting December 1st, Thailand’s Land Transport Department will begin using a demerit point system for public transport drivers of buses, taxis, tuk-tuks, and motorcycle taxis, with the ability to suspend or withdraw their licenses if enough points are deducted.

    Police chief to expedite the removal of ‘Ferrari Joe’ as murder charges are due to be filed in court

    The National Police Commissioner General Suwat Jang­yod­suk, on Wednesday, confirmed that he will expedite the disciplinary process which will see Police Colonel Thitisan Utthanaphon and six other police officers removed from government service as charges including one for capital murder are expected to be filed before the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases very shortly.

    Over 77% people polled will not join Loy Krathong festival over COVID concerns

    Over three quarters (77.3%) of people surveyed in a recent poll, conducted by Bangkok Poll, said that they will not take part the Loy Krathong festival today (Friday), citing COVID-19 concerns. 74.4% said they are also worried that the annual festival will result in new infection clusters.
